Judith contacted MH Landscapes for help and advice on how to get more from their garden. When we arrived to discuss her ideas we found a very old, small paved area, an even smaller lawn and a large slab of concrete at the rear of the garden that previously housed a large shed.
Judith’s main criteria was to give the family a simple space that they could be together in without too much maintenance. We decided to extended the patio area to allow for Al fresco dining. Remove the existing lawn and concrete and lay a large, flatter lawn in its place.
We began the work by clearing the entire garden of all the concrete, old turf and paving and spent a few days completely re-levelling the entire area with some fresh screened top soil.
Once the levels had been determined, we began laying their larger patio area with buff, riven paving slabs. We had to ensure the family had enough space for a large dining table and chairs. This will allow the family to extended their living and dining space from the house through their existing patio doors.
Our next task was to lay the fresh, classic turf to give the family their brand new large lawn area.
We finished this off with buff riven stepping stones to the sleeper flower bed at the bottom of the garden. This will be a place the family can grow vegetables and flowers together and enjoy spending time outdoors in their new family friendly garden!
This project is a fantastic way of demonstrating how easy it is to completely change the space in your garden. With just a few steps Judith’s garden has transformed from a bland, unused plot to an inviting and safe place for all the family to enjoy together! Matt – MH Landscapes
