Nick and his family have a lovely house with a nice sized rear garden. When we arrived to take a look, the majority of the garden was covered in an old, patchy lawn with a small, block paved patio area and a tired overgrown water feature. The entire space was feeling very sorry for itself and needed MH Landscapes to give it a new and contemporary lease of life.

Our main objective was to give the family a low maintenance space with a large area for outdoor living and socialising together.

Fringford Garden DesignAfter sharing ideas we came to the decision to build a large decking structure with two separate areas – one for dining and one for lounging. We would also renovate their existing water feature to sit flush at the end of the garden. Deckings are a fantastic way of extending your living space into the garden and are a much cheaper option than paving. We also decided to lay a brand new lawn for them and build two raised sleeper beds to keep the flowers neat and contained and most importantly, low maintenance.

Our first task was to clear the garden and remove the existing block paving. Then the base for the decking structure could begin. This was a complex task with several factors to consider. We needed the decking structure to be just the right height to be flush with the back and conservatory doors so you can step out seamlessly. Equally the angle had to sit softly within the garden whilst providing a natural walkway from the dining section to the lounging section.

Once the decking had been built this garden already felt so much bigger and with so much potential to socialise in. To finish we laid a brand new lawn and built the timeless sleeper flower beds and the garden was transformed…

A few weeks later we returned to give the lawn its first cut and treatment. Nick and his family had purchased brand new garden furniture and have already been enjoying this new addition to their home…
